Mumbai Style Pao Bhaji | How to Make Pao Bhaji

MUMBAI STYLE PAO BHAJI RECIPE INTRODUCTION:

Pao bhaji is a famous fast food that originated in Mumbai and now it is been popular all over Maharashtra.

I personally like pao bhaji very much and I often make it at home when I have a craving for it and believe me it’s mind-blowing.

It is the easiest and great option for dinner sometimes and one can also put it on the menu for the birthday celebration because it doesn’t require so much of time plus it doesn’t require very much hard work.

As you are aware there are lots of people who gather on any occasion or birthday party so the only hard thing for you may be to make a delicious vegetable curry (Bhaji) and bread roll (pao) you can easily get at any bakery if you don’t wish to make it at home.

Some people don’t have a microwave in their home so they always prefer to get pao from the bakery itself and it is served alongside with Amul butter, Onions and lemon wedges.

This is one of the decilious Indian street food, the best part of making pao bhaji is you can eat it as dinner also or if not then you can have it as breakfast it is according to your preference.

In my home, we make Pao bhaji at night and keep it as dinner and every one of us like to have it because it will make you full and you won’t have any space left to eat anything else but not everybody do this, There are some people who don’t like to have pao bhaji as dinner so no worries for them at least they can have it as breakfast and one can also give these people the same vegetable curry i.e. Bhaji with hot Rotis or paratha loaded with Amul butter.

Pao bhaji is fast food with a combination of spicy curry sauce and bread roll.

In street style, Pao bhaji people don’t add cauliflower because it is a little expensive but at home, you can add it because cauliflower gives a nice flavour.

Every one of us has a special craving for eating pao bhaji whether made at home or it can be a restaurant.

I personally like pao bhaji very much never matter when I have a craving for it. I often make it at home and believe me everyone in my home likes it a lot.

INGREDIENTS:

  • Cauliflower
  • Potato
  • Onion
  • Capsicum
  • Beetroot
  • Carrot
  • Capsicum
  • Tomato
  • Green peas
  • Kasuri methi
  • Amul butter
  • Ginger garlic paste
  • Red chilli powder
  • Turmeric
  • Pav bhaji masala (Readymade)
  • Red food color (Optional)
  • Lemon
  • Salt
  • Coriander leaves

RECIPE:

•In a pressure cooker, add potatoes, cauliflower, carrot, green peas and cook for 2-3 whistle.

•After that, mash the entire ingredients with a masher.

•Take a pan, Heat Amul butter.

•Add finely chopped onions, capsicum, and grated beetroot, saute until it becomes soft and cooked properly.

•Add ginger garlic paste,cook until the oil separates (Flame should be low to medium otherwise it will burn or get stick in the bottom of the pan).

•Add red chilli powder, turmeric powder, pav bhaji masala, food colour 1 pinch (you can avoid as beetroot and red chilli powder itself gives a nice colour to pav bhaji).

•Saute for 2-3 mins, Add tomato puree (you can add finely chopped also but I always prefer puree).

•Cook very nicely till oil separates.

•Add the mashed vegetables, Add an adequate amount of water (Do not add very much water otherwise it will turn watery as pav bhaji should be a little thick).

•Cook for 15 mins, in medium flame.

•Garnish with green coriander leaves and add Amul butter if you want extra.

•You can also add cheese, it gives a very good taste but always adds when you are about to serve someone Do not add in the whole pan )

•Serve hot Vegetable curry (Bhaji) with roasted rolled bread (pao) and onion, lemon wedges on the side.

NOTE:

•Do not add cauliflower in much quantity otherwise the aroma and taste will change of pao bhaji.

•Every ingredient should be in proper proportion.

•Potatoes you can add more for getting gravy thick but not very much more.

•For roasting pao, Take a pan cut the pao add Amul butter, Pao bhaji masala on the pan and roast the pao.

•Make Pao bhaji in Amul butter it will taste awesome.

•Onion capsicum should be finely chopped whereas beetroot should be grated (Beetroot should be added 1 not more than that)
